For the first 3 months after completing Invisalign, wear your retainers full-time day and night removing them only to eat and brush. After this initial period, you’ll transition to wearing them at night. To keep your teeth from shifting, consistent nightly wear is essential long-term.

Over time, retainers can loosen or wear down, especially if you grind or clench your teeth (which many people do without realizing it). Even with proper use, your first set may wear out faster due to extended wear during the initial months. Replacing retainers when needed helps ensure your smile stays exactly where you want it.

We recommend checking your retainers every 6 months. If you have a backup set, try it on if it feels tighter, your current retainer may have stretched, and it’s time to switch before any shifting occurs.
